Benzodiazepine Addiction Treatment

Let Us Help

Withdrawal from Benzodiazepines can be very harsh on your body. At Wavelengths Desert Recovery, we strongly urge you to NOT attempt the detoxification process on your own.

What are Benzodiazepines?

Benzodiazepines are psychoactive drugs commonly prescribed to treat a variety of conditions, including anxiety and insomnia.  These drugs are known on the streets as Benzos, Dippers, Heavenly Blues, Goofballs, Valley Girl, Zannies, and Footballs.

Benzodiazepines are commonly prescribed under the names Xanax, Valium, and Librium.  They can help to reduce anxiety and seizures, relax the muscles, and induce sleep.

Short-term use of Benzodiazepines is considered safe and effective. On the other hand, long-term use can cause tolerance, dependence, and ultimately addiction. It is also possible to overdose on benzodiazepines.  Mixing them with alcohol or other substances is one of the more common causes of Benzodiazepine overdose death.

Signs of Benzo Addiction

If you need more “Benzos” to get the same effect you’ve probably developed a tolerance to them.  If you feel withdrawal symptoms when you discontinue Benzo use, your body has probably developed a dependency.  Most significantly, if your desire for Benzos causes you to use other substitute drugs or take drastic actions to buy them on the black market, it is more than likely that you have developed some level of addiction.  At a minimum, addiction to Benzos can result in daytime drowsiness and short-term memory loss, impaired physical coordination, and diminished motor skills. At worst, this type of addiction can lead to overdose death or physical harm caused by impairment.  If you or a loved one are struggling with these signs, Wavelengths Desert Recovery can help.  Call us now!

Benzodiazepine Addiction Treatment

Withdrawal from Benzodiazepines can be very harsh on your body.   At Wavelengths Desert Recovery, we strongly urge you to NOT attempt the detoxification process on your own.  Your well-intended effort could cause serious side effects that would ultimately reduce your chances of success.  We also recommend that you seek detoxification through an addiction specialist or qualified medical expert that is specifically trained to monitor your detox protocol, manage your symptoms and treat you in the event of an emergency.

At Wavelengths Desert Recovery, our highly qualified Medical Director is certified in addiction medicine.  During your detoxification process, we will slowly wean you off of the drugs in your system until we have completely tapered you off of them.  This will minimize the side effects of withdrawal and allow you to more comfortably reach sobriety.  But detox is only phase one of the process.

Phase two will begin after the drug has been successfully eliminated from your body.  That phase includes one on one sessions with a Therapist, followed by one on one counseling sessions with an assigned counselor, several group therapy options, as well as health and nutrition options to get you back to optimal health.  Every client will have a unique experience depending on their history and needs.  Rest assured, the Wavelengths Family has your best interest in mind and our team will be there with you as you navigate your path to sobriety.

Don’t do it alone.  We have the experience, knowledge, and most importantly, desire to make a difference.  Call us today!
