Like many health insurance providers, Aetna helps pay for treatment for individuals with alcohol and drug use disorders. The Affordable Care Act (ACA) requires all insurance companies to provide some type of coverage for alcohol and drug treatment. The ACA requires all health insurance plans to cover behavioral health treatment (e.g., psychotherapy and counseling), mental health inpatient services, and substance use disorder (SUD) treatment.

Aetna works with rehabilitation facilities to help ensure members are eligible to receive rehab benefits when needed. We determine what benefits you are eligible to receive based on your individual health insurance policy. Aetna typically covers at least part of your addiction treatment costs but may only cover part of the cost for some services or facilities.
